Many people ask why sin must be washed away by blood sacrifice. Why didn’t God just wipe it out without the hassle of having to bear all those sins on the cross?
Romans 6:23 (IMB) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through JESUS Christ our Lord.
Every sin in any form has the consequence of death (destruction). Don’t take sin as a trivial matter, it is precisely the result of human sin that is separated from God. As a result of sin, the world has become chaotic and various kinds of evil have occurred.
God’s true nature is justice, He knows that the consequence of every sin committed by humans is death. Are you able to escape your own sin by dying to yourself? Of course, your death is not enough to wash away all your sins.
Why? Because human blood is polluted by sin. Even the blood of animals sacrificed every year in Old Testament times could not wash away sin, it could only cover it temporarily.
Hebrews 10:3-4 (IMB) But precisely by the sacrifices offered, people are reminded of their sins every year. Because it is absolutely impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to wash away sins.
And in the Old Testament, almost everything was cleansed with blood and without the shedding of blood there was no forgiveness of sins.
Hebrews 9:18-22 (IMB) That is why the first covenant was ratified with blood, because after Moses had read all the commandments of the law to all the people, he had to bring the blood of calves and rams, as well as water, red fleece and hyssop , then he shall sprinkle it on the Book and on all the people, saying: “This is the blood of the covenant which Elohim ordained for you.” Then in the same way he sprinkled the blood on the tabernacle and all the vessels for worship. According to Torah law, almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
So what’s the solution? The solution is that God Himself must intervene to free humans from the slavery of sin by sacrificing Himself on the cross. Without the death of JESUS Christ on the cross, we will never get eternal forgiveness for all our sins. Because only the blood of JESUS is holy and is able to completely erase sin and only the blood of JESUS is able to cleanse all our sins, mistakes and transgressions.
Romans 3:23-26 (IMB) For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but by His grace they are justified freely through the redemption that is in Christ JESUS. Christ JESUS was appointed by God as a propitiation through faith in His blood. He did this to reveal His righteousness because He had allowed the sins that occurred in the past during the time of His patience, to prove the truth of God in the present, so that it would be clear that He is righteous and justifies those who believe in JESUS.
1 Peter 2:22,24 (IMB) He did not sin, and there was no deceit in His mouth. He Himself bore all our sins in His body on the cross, so that we, who had died to sin, could live in righteousness. By His stripes you were healed.
Hebrews 9:14 (IMB) How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself to God as a spotless sacrifice, cleanse our conscience from deeds that lead to death, so that we may worship God the living.
Hebrews 9:28 (IMB) Likewise, Christ sacrificed Himself once to take away the sins of many, and He will appear a second time, not to take away sins, but to bring those who wait for Him to complete salvation .
