DID CHRIST’S SACRIFICE ON THE CROSS PERFECTLY FINISH ALL OUR SINS?

(By : Dessy Ariadna – Stand To Jesus Writing Team)

The question often arises regarding: Was Christ’s sacrifice on the cross perfect and sufficient to take away all sins? Or do humans still have to struggle and try again to do this and that like offering sacrifices in the Old Testament just so that their sins can be completely wiped away?

The answer to that question is :

Hebrews 9:14 (IMB) how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself to God as a spotless sacrifice, cleanse our conscience from deeds that lead to death, so that we can worship the living God.

Hebrews 9:28 (IMB) Likewise, Christ sacrificed Himself once to take away the sins of many, and He will appear a second time, not to take away sins, but to bring those who wait for Him to complete salvation .

Hebrews 10:14 (IMB) For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is perfect and sufficient to take away all our sins, mistakes and transgressions. We no longer need to do this and that like in the Old Testament, namely offering burnt offerings so that our sins can be wiped away by God. JESUS Himself sacrificed for us and His sacrifice on the cross for us was complete and perfect.

If for example the sacrifice of Christ Jesus on the cross for us was not perfect or still lacking, then JESUS would never have said “it is finished” (John 19:30). When JESUS said it was finished, it meant that all sins, mistakes, transgressions, curses, sickness, eternal death, destruction, the wrath of God and all the bad things that should have been inflicted on us, had been placed on JESUS and everything had been completely resolved by His sacrifice. on the cross.

When someone believes in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross then all their sins, mistakes and transgressions are forgiven. But when someone rejects Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, then there is no more sacrifice that can take away his sins and save that person from the wrath of God.

Hebrews 10:28-29 (IMB) People who reject the law of Moses, on the testimony of two or three witnesses, will be put to death without mercy. How severe the punishment must be on the man who tramples the Son of God under his feet, who deems unclean the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who also insults the Spirit of Grace.
