This article was written for people who question who Cain married and how could Cain have a wife? Many people, because they don’t read the Bible in detail, are confused when they see this passage.
Book of Genesis 4:17 (IMB) Cain had intercourse with his wife and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. And Cain built a city, naming it after his son Enoch.
Then ordinary people who read this passage are confused, “how could Cain have a wife? Aren’t Adam and Eve’s only children Cain and Abel?
The answer is no, don’t read the Bible only in parts and then draw conclusions, read it completely and carefully, the children of Adam and Eve were not just Cain and Abel. Adam and Eve also had another child, namely Seth, and Eve gave birth to many sons and daughters whose names are not mentioned in the Bible. Here’s the text:
Genesis 4:25 (IMB) Adam had intercourse with his wife again, the woman gave birth to a son, and named him Seth; the woman said, “God has given me another son in place of Abel whom Cain killed. ”
Genesis 5:3-5 (IMB) After Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, he gave birth to a son in his own image, who was named Seth. After begetting Seth, Adam lived eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters. So Adam lived nine hundred and thirty years, then he died.
Adam and Eve lived almost 1000 years on earth and during their long life, they continued to reproduce and had many children, both male and female, apart from Cain, Abel and Seth.
So in conclusion, Cain married his own sister and this was allowed in that era because humans were still very few in number and genetic diseases had not yet appeared as they do in the modern era.
