In this article we want to discuss the unbiblical question that has been circulating for some time, “Did Adam have another wife besides Eve?”

The idea that Adam had another wife besides Eve is based on a mythological story originating from Babylonian legend, where Adam had another wife named Lilith who was the incarnation of the devil in the form of a woman, in Babylonian mythology she was also called the goddess of the night. Then this legend developed and was believed by Kabbalistic people to be true.

Of course, this story is part of the mysticism of Kabbalah and has nothing to do with the Old Testament Bible (Tanakh), in fact many Jews reject this mythology because it has no basis and is not verified at all by the Holy Bible, the Jews too generally reject this mythology as part of their traditional story, especially since the story comes from Babylonian (Babylonian) mythology which cannot be trusted at all.

In conclusion, anything that is not verified at all by the Holy Scriptures cannot be said to be true. In fact, in the Bible, God created only one woman to be Adam’s partner, namely Eve. God did not give Adam another woman besides Eve. The first polygamous marriage was pioneered by Cain’s descendant, Lamech, who took two wives.

Genesis 2:21-25 (IMB) :

And YAHWEH Elohim caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep. When Adam slept, YAHWEH Elohim took one of his ribs, then He covered the place with flesh. And YAHWEH Elohim formed the rib which He had taken from the man into a woman, and He brought her to the man. Then Adam said, “This is he, bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. Therefore she will be called woman, because she was taken from man. ” That is why, a man will leave his father and mother and be firmly united to his wife and they become one body. They were both naked, the man and his wife, but they felt no shame.

Genesis 4:19 (IMB) Lamech took for himself two wives; the first was named Ada, the second was named Zila.

Finally, God in the Bible adheres to the principle of Monogamy and not Polygamy. Is there any proof? Of course there is! Read these passages :

Titus 1:6 (IMB) He was a blameless man, the husband of one wife, having believing children, and could not be accused of living indecently or disorderly.

Deuteronomy 17:17a (IMB) He must not have many wives, so that his heart does not deviate.

Malachi 2:14-15 (ESV) And you ask, “Because of what?” Because the LORD has become a witness between you and the wife of your youth to whom you have been unfaithful, even though she was your partner and your partner. Didn’t the One God make them flesh and spirit? And what does that unity want? Divine descent! So take care of yourself! And let no one be unfaithful to the wife of his youth.

JESUS BLESS YOU
