(By : Dessy Ariadna – Stand To JESUS Writing Team)

Does Christianity recognize reincarnation? Does Christianity teach about reincarnation? This is often a question and I will answer it based on the perspective of God’s word.

First we have to understand what reincarnation is. Reincarnation is a belief originating from Hinduism and Buddhism, reincarnation is the belief that people who have died will be reborn in a new life, either in human form or even reborn in animal form, depending on the results of their previous actions in their previous life.

Then what about Christianity? Does Christianity teach about reincarnation and recognizing reincarnation?

Hebrews 9:27 (IMB) It is appointed for man to die once, and after that he will be judged.

Christianity does not teach about reincarnation or rebirth of deceased humans. So what is the meaning of new creation in the Bible? Is it the same as reincarnation? Many ordinary people are mistaken and equate it with reincarnation even though it is clearly different.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (IMB) So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; everything old has passed away, indeed everything new has come.

The new creation in the Bible is not reincarnation but a new life for people who have accepted JESUS Christ as Lord and Savior, so it has nothing to do with reincarnation. Because the Bible does not teach that there is rebirth to earth after death.

The Bible only teaches about the Incarnation, of course Incarnation and reincarnation are two different things. Incarnation is a condition where God comes and is born into the world in human form.

Philippians 2:6-7 (IMB) He who exists in the form of God, does not consider equality with God something to be maintained. Instead, He emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant in order to become like humans.
