(Author : Dessy Maharani – Stand To JESUS)
Let’s see from a Biblical point of view, whether it was true that Judas Iscariot was saved and entered heaven after his betrayal.
1. JUDAS ISCARIOT DIDN’T BELIEVE JESUS WAS GOD AND MESSIAH
Matthew 26:25 (IMB) And Judas, who betrayed Him, answered and said, “Is it I, Rabbi? ” JESUS said to him, “You yourself have said it. ”
During his lifetime, Judas Iscariot never called JESUS his Lord and Savior, only calling him Rabbi (Teacher). Judas Iscariot’s attitude was the same as that of the scribes and Pharisees who considered JESUS to be only a teacher and not God, let alone the Messiah. Judas Iscariot never believed that JESUS was God and the Messiah.
2. JUDAS ISCARIOT HAS BEEN DESTROYED TO PERISH (SON OF PERDITION)
John 17:12 (IMB) When I was with them in this world, I always kept them in Your Name, which is Your Name which You have given Me. I have kept them and none of them should perish, except the son of perdition, so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.
3. JESUS CALLED JUDAS ISCARIOT THE DEVIL
John 6:70-71 (IMB) JESUS said to them, “Did I not choose you twelve? But one of you is a devil. ” He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, one of the twelve, because he was the one who would betray Him.
4. THE BETRAYAL OF JUDAS ISCARIOT AND HIS DEATH HAS BEEN PROPHECIZED SINCE THE OLD TESTAMENT
King David in the book of Psalms had prophesied about the betrayal of Judas Iscariot and also his death and the transfer of his office to someone else after his death.
Psalm 41:10 (IMB) Even my closest friend whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has turned up his heel against me.
Psalm 109:8 (IMB) let his days be short, and let others take his office;
If there are people who argue and say that David was telling stories about himself, then know that King David’s friends never betrayed him at all. All of King David’s friends such as Jonathan, Hushai, Barzillai, King Hiram, the prophet Nathan and the priest Zadok never once betrayed David during their lives. In fact, David received betrayal from his own sons Absalom and Adonijah, the royal advisor Ahithophel, his cousin the army commander Joab, his father-in-law Saul and the priest Abiathar, Zadok’s fellow priest. None of David’s closest friends ever betrayed him, they were very loyal to him.
5. JUDAS ISCARIOT SOLD JESUS FOR 30 SILVER PIECES
Matthew 26:14-16 (IMB) Then one of the twelve disciples, whose name was Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests, and said, “What will you give me, that I might hand Him over to you? ” So they appointed thirty pieces of silver for him. Since then he has always looked for opportunities to surrender Him.
If Judas Iscariot truly believed in JESUS, then he would not have sold JESUS for just 30 pieces of silver, the other disciples who truly believed in JESUS did not even do that.
6. JESUS CLEANSED AND SANCTIFIED ALL OF HIS DISCIPLES EXCEPT JUDAS ISCARIOT
John 13:10-11 (IMB) JESUS said to him, “A person who has bathed no longer needs to wash anything other than his feet, because he is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of it. ” For He knew who would betray Him, that’s why He said, “You are not all clean. “
7. JUDAS ISCARIOT WAS POSSESSED BY SATAN
If Judas Iscariot was truly a believer in JESUS, then he could not have been possessed by a demon, because there was God’s protection protecting him, but the fact is that Judas Iscariot was possessed by a demon, which proves that he was not a believer in JESUS, so there was no God’s protection over him.
John 13:26-27 (IMB) JESUS answered, “He is the one to whom I will give the piece of bread that I have dipped. ” And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son. And after Judas received the piece of bread, he was possessed by a demon. Then JESUS said to him, “What you are going to do, do it immediately! “
8. THE APOSTLE PETER SAID JUDAS ISCARIOT HAD WENT TO A PLACE WORTH HIM
Acts 1:24-25 (IMB) And when they prayed, they said, “LORD, you know the hearts of all people, show me one of these two people, whom you have chosen to receive the ministry and office of apostle that Judas had left , who has gone where he deserves to be. “
These words of the Apostle Peter show that Judas Iscariot after his death had gone to the place he deserved (the realm of death).
9. JUDAS ISCARIOT CHOSE TO HANG HIMSELF AND NOT TO REPENT AND BELIEVE IN JESUS AFTER HIS BETRAYAL
Judas Iscariot’s decision to end his life by hanging himself shows that he did not repent and still did not believe in JESUS.
Matthew 27:3-5 (IMB) When Judas, who betrayed Him, saw that He was being condemned, he repented and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, and said, “I have sinned by betraying blood of innocent People. ” But they said, “ What is our business? That’s your own responsibility! ” He threw the pieces of silver into the Temple, then went and hanged himself.
10. JUDAS ISCARIOT WAS NOT AFRAID OF GOD
Judas Iscariot was not a person who feared God, because if he was a person who feared God, then he would not have stolen let alone lied that he cared about poor people only for his personal interests.
John 12:4-6 (IMB) Judas Iscariot son of Simon, one of His disciples, who was about to betray Him, said, “Why not just sell the perfume for three hundred denarii and give the money to the poor? ” He said this not because he cared about poor people, but because he was a thief who often took money from the money bag he was holding.
11. JESUS CALLED JUDAS ISCARIOT A WORSE MAN WHO WAS BETTER NOT BORN
Matthew 26:24 (IMB) The Son of Man must indeed go, as it is written about Him, but woe to the man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would have been good for him if he had not been born. ”
12. THE 30 SILVER PIECES RECEIVED BY JUDAS ISCARIOT WAS PROPHECIZED IN THE OLD TESTAMENT BY THE PROPHETS ZACHARIA AND PROPHET JEREMIA ALSO WITH HIS MEANINGLESS REGRET
Zechariah 11:12-13 (IMB) Then I said to them, “If it seems good to you, give me my reward, but if not, then hold back. ” Then they paid me my wages, thirty pieces of silver. But YAHWEH said to me, “Give your wages to the potter. ” A high price they have paid me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver, and handed them to the potter in YAHWEH’s Temple.
Jeremiah 32:6-9 (IMB) Then Jeremiah said, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying: Behold, Hanameel, the son of Shallum, your uncle, who will come to you, and say: Buy for yourself my field which is in Anathoth, for the right to redeem it is with you, that is, to purchase it. Thus, according to the word of YAHWEH, Hanameel, my uncle’s son, came to me in the courtyard of the guard, saying to me: Buy my field which is in Anathoth, in the land of Benjamin, for the right of inheritance is with you, the right of redemption is also with you. Buy it for yourself. Then I knew that this was the word of YAHWEH. So I bought a field in Anathoth from Hanameel, my uncle’s son, weighed silver for him, seventeen shekels of silver.
(Note: 17 real silver shekels if converted into silver coins, the amount is 30 silver coins).
Jeremiah 18:2 (IMB) “Arise and go to the house of a merchant! There I will make you listen to My words. ”
Jeremiah 19:11 (IMB) Then say to them: Thus YAHWEH Tsebaoth, YAHWEH of Hosts says: Thus I will destroy this nation and this city, like the one who broke the vessel of the smith who could not be repaired; they will bury in Topheth, because there is no place to bury them.
Matthew 27:7-10 (IMB) After making an agreement, they bought a potter’s field with the money to make a burial ground for foreigners. Therefore, to this day the field is called the Field of Blood. So what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled when he said, “And they have taken thirty pieces of silver, as His price according to the prevailing judgment, namely the price determined by the children of Israel, and they have given the money to buy the artisan’s field pot, just as God had commanded me. “
Acts 1:18-19 (IMB) After receiving a plot of land from the wages of his betrayal, he fell down with his stomach split open and all its contents spilled out. This was known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem, so that the land in their language was called Hakeldama, which means the Land of Blood.
Jeremiah 31:19 (ESV) Indeed, after I turned around, I repented, and after I knew myself, I patted my side in mourning; I feel ashamed and stained, for I bear the disgrace of my youth.
So it is clear that Judas Iscariot was not saved and entered heaven after the betrayal he committed. The statements that say that Judas Iscariot was saved and entered heaven are refuted by all the verses that show the opposite.
