A question came to us that said that people who live under grace are people who are free to sin because there is no law that regulates it. Is all that true? The answer is: NOT TRUE.
Romans 6:1-2 (IMB) So what shall we say? Are we going to continue sinning so that grace continues to increase? Certainly not. We have died to sin, how can we still live in it?
Romans 6:14 (IMB) Sin will have no power over you, for you are not under the law, but under grace.
People who are aware that the salvation they obtain is a gift and free gift through JESUS Christ will not live their lives carelessly because they have a new identity in Christ, namely as children of God.
People who live in grace will be guided by the Holy Spirit to live in righteousness and not in the power of sin. People who live in grace will be taught to leave behind wickedness and live in righteousness.
Titus 2:11-12 (IMB) For, God’s grace that saves everyone has already appeared. This gift educates us to abandon wickedness and worldly desires, to live wisely, justly and piously in this present time.
So the accusation that people who live under grace are people who are free to sin is not true at all. Because it is impossible for the Holy Spirit to lead people into deeds of sin, but into deeds of righteousness.
Romans 6:15-18 (IMB) So what? Can we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? Certainly not. Don’t you know that to whom you submit yourself to obey as a slave, you are a slave to the one you obey, whether it is sin that leads to death or obedience that leads to righteousness? However, thank God that you, who have been slaves to sin, have now obeyed with all your heart the true teaching that has been given to you. Having been freed from sin, you were made slaves of righteousness.
